Introduction
This assignment investigates the production design and the visual concept of the film Dogville directed by Lars von Trier. The director is widely known about his restrictive filming techniques. The film has won numerous awards. I will use a variety of resources to investigate the concept and the visual concept of the film in regard with the storyline and the messages the film wants to pass using the specific visual concept methods. I will use books and some film reviews in order to contain and provide the most information I can give. The books that will be used are: Beumers, Birgit (2009) Literary and Theatrical Experiments of New Russian Drama, Kandiyoti, Dalia (2009): America, Place, and Diaspora Literatures and Aragay, Mireia (2005) Contemporary Cinema, Volume 2.
