Stages and Information About my Final Piece

Stages of My Final Piece

Unit - 1 Re submission Final Piece.

Finally after many hours of working this is my final piece. Probably most hours spent on a piece in Photoshop. I didn't have much time and i didn't want to make a quick background. I will make a background in my piece in the following days. In my next post i will show the stages of my work.

*Guidance, Photoshop "tutorials", good techniques and help for the last week have been given to me from my course mate Paris. He showed me techniques and he guided me through the process of my piece.

He gave me really good ideas and really helpful advice and i really thank him.

Inspiring Artists

During the environment presentation we saw many artists work. From all the artists we saw i found some really interesting that can give me ideas and their concept can inspire me for the scene i have to make.

Jeff Wall

Jeff Wall is a Canadian photograph artist. He was born in 1946 in Canada. I really like his photo concepts and i think that they can give me many ideas for my environment scene that i have to do.

  Figure 1: Insomnia 1994

The concept of the painting seems to me really interesting. We see a man lying in the ground of his kitchen. It's obvious that he suffers from insomnia. What makes this photograph really interesting is that in the background everything is opened everything is touched. It puts us in a situation that we actually know what were his previously moves (the moves of the man who is lying down) before sleeping on the floor.

Figure 2: After Invisible Man' by Ralph Ellison 1999-2000

This pictures seems to me that symbolizes to me something with all these light bulbs. The photographer wants from us to imagine what this image wants to show to us. I can't give a certain definition for this image. For me it shows a man, a working man  trapped with all these light bulbs. The light bulbs can symbolize the problems and the jobs you have to do and face in modern world societies. This is a definition for this picture by me.

Figure 3: The Destroyed Room 1978

This picture shows a destroyed room. The idea of what has happened is being born in your mind as soon as you see this photograph. After observing the photograph you can see that is in purpose made this room. This photograph if you don't observe the window and the door where they indicate that the whole set is inside in a studio is really ambiguous.

Figure 4: The flooded Grave 1998-200

This picture is showing a grave flooded but what it indicates? A disaster? Something symbolic with this opened grave which has been flooded? An the whole photograph shows a big cemetery where all the graves might be in the same condition with this and we don't know why. This is what makes this photograph so interesting.

This pictures are really good and ambiguous. The want to keep us thinking why they have been taken and what they indicate. Again i like their concept and the way this environments are being depicted through the photograph.

Sandy Skoglund

She was born in 1946 in the USA and she is a photographer and an illustration artist. Her work is really ambiguous and interesting. She uses really smart and good techniques in her photographs.

Figure 5: As Far The Eye Can See 2001

A great picture where it indicates a path with these different color leaves. Our eye can't see where this "path" leads to which is what makes it interesting. It makes you imagine the destination where these leaves lead.

 Figure 6: Fox Games

We see a dinner where there are many fox. These foxes seem like that they are invading this dinner. Their red color wants to give emphasis. What this can mean, why these foxes are invaders in this dinner? It is so ambiguous.
Figure 7:  Revenge of the Goldfish 1981

This picture shows a couple sleeping. The room is full with goldfishes. The man is regretting something or he is awake of a nightmare? Another ambiguous picture which leave for us to give our own meaning and think about what it wants to say.

Figure 8: A Breeze at Work 1986

This picture shows a work space where nature invades in the frame of the photograph. Again the meaning is left for us. I believe it wants to show the fact that we are so commited to our jobs where we forget real things in life like nature. Again this is an idea of mine for what this painting wants to depict. It's really ambiguous.

These artists have great work and their work really inspires me. I really like the photo realism and the invasion of the outsider inside the frame of the picture. It makes it somehow unreal and real in the same time. This idea is what i want to follow for my final environment scene.
